Delete Account & Data
You can delete the data stored by TapAlive at any time – without giving a reason and without any waiting period. This page lists all three ways to do it.
This is an English translation provided for convenience. If there is any discrepancy, the German version (Konto & Daten löschen) is the legally binding one.
TapAlive has no classic user account There is no registration and no password. Your data is tied to an anonymous device ID generated locally on your device when you first launch the app. For us, „delete account“ therefore means: erase all data stored for that device ID.
Option 1: directly in the app (recommended)
The fastest way – deletion takes effect immediately and you do not need to contact us.
- Open TapAlive on your device.
- Tap Settings in the bottom right.
- Scroll to the Privacy section.
- Choose „Delete all data“.
- Confirm the security prompt.
This removes your settings, emergency contacts, buddy links and all server-side data stored for your device ID. Any running check-in timer is stopped and no further alerts are sent.
Please consider first After deletion your safety net is inactive. No further check-in reminders are sent and no contacts are notified in an emergency. Let the people you trust know, if appropriate.
Option 2: uninstall the app
If you simply remove the app from your device, all locally stored data is deleted immediately – including the anonymous device ID, your settings and the contact list in the app.
The few remaining server-side items (such as the verified phone number and alarm logs) are then removed automatically within 30 days.
Important: uninstalling does not cancel an active subscription. Plus and Premium subscriptions must additionally be cancelled in the store – see the FAQ.
Option 3: send us a deletion request
No longer have access to your device, or want written confirmation of the deletion? Send us an informal deletion request. We will confirm receipt and carry out the deletion.
By email to kontakt@viraai.de – or using the form below.

| Emergency contacts (name, number) | deleted | immediately |
| Verified phone number, buddy links | deleted | within 30 days |

| Alarm logs and audio recordings | deleted | after 30 days at the latest |
| Expo push token | invalidated and deleted | within 30 days |
| Location data | not stored permanently | – |
| Billing and subscription data | retained (statutory retention obligation) | 10 years (sec. 147 German Fiscal Code) |
Retaining billing data is required by law (sec. 147 of the German Fiscal Code) and is therefore exempt from erasure requests. This data is held for tax purposes only and is not processed further.
Cancel your subscription separately
An active Plus or Premium subscription is not cancelled automatically by deleting your data, because it runs through the Apple App Store or Google Play and can only be managed there:
- iPhone / iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → TapAlive → Cancel Subscription
- Android: Play Store → profile picture → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → TapAlive → Cancel subscription
Please cancel the subscription before deleting your data so that no further charges are made.
Other rights under the GDPR
Besides erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) you have further rights – such as access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). An informal email to kontakt@viraai.de is enough for these as well.
A full overview is available in our privacy policy, section 11.

After deletion your safety net is inactive. TapAlive was never a replacement for official emergency services – in an acute emergency, always call 110 (police) or 112 (emergency services) directly.
